Paxil Lawsuits Have Happened Before
When a prescription drug is found to be potentially dangerous, there is a lot that happens in reaction to the news. One of the most common reactions is the filing of claims against the manufacturer, and in reaction to several news items regarding Paxil, several Paxil lawsuits were filed for claims of damages due to serious harm that was incurred by some of the people who were taking the medication.
Below is a look at just one of the Paxil lawsuits that was filed in 2001, and the law firm of Williams Kherkher will continue to update this portion of our Web site with any subsequent or new Paxil lawsuits that have been filed.
September of 2001
A Paxil lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles in the U.S. District Court, and the basic claim for damages alleged the following items:
- Paxil is addictive
- The manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline, failed to warn users of serious side effects after discontinuing its use
- The manufacturer used “false and misleading techniques” to conceal potential withdrawal symptoms
It was the second Paxil lawsuit filed that month, and came on the heels of an $8 million jury award in Wyoming after a man committed murder-suicide as a result of using Paxil, according to court findings.
