The Recalled Drug of Paxil

It is just unbelievable the number of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drugs that are either under investigation or have already been yanked from the shelves. Among them is the drug Paraxetine, sold under the name Paxil. Like Vioxx, Celebrex, Bextra, and many others, Paxil patients have experienced adverse side effects. The FDA has requested that Paxil have a label of a Category D drug. This category is designed specifically to warn pregnant women of the health risk to their babies if taking Paxil. The FDA didn't stop there. They also want a warning placed on the label specifying in detail what adverse affects can result to both the mother and developing fetus. This is a result of the studies done where women in the first trimester gave birth to babies with birth defects. Paxil, simply put, increases the risk level of having a baby with birth defects. If you have suffered in any way from taking Paxil, contact a Paxil attorney for a consultation.

The side effects we have seen on the developing fetus are among the worst that Paxil produces. There are other issues however. There are many children under the age of 18 that suffer from depression or anxiety. They go through therapy and sometimes hospitalization as part of their treatment. Medical treatment is normally included in this treatment plan. This is where Paxil comes into play. Paxil has been approved to treat young children. Unfortunately, we've seen some children experience side effects such as sleepiness, nausea or nervousness. Some children experienced increased thoughts of suicide, increased feelings of depression or heightened social anxiety or an increased tendency of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). This is quite alarming and quite unacceptable. If you or a loved one has experienced these types of medical issues after taking Paxil, contact a Paxil attorney for assistance.

If you take Paxil, your first thought is probably to stop taking Paxil right away and maybe to throw the bottle of pills out the window. Stop. You need to consult with your doctor first before stopping Paxil. As strange as it may sound, you could undergo a different set of side effects if you abruptly stop taking Paxil. Your doctor will determine the best way to wean you off of the drug.

We suggest that you first focus on your health or your loved one's health. Obtain all medical treatment you need to feel better. Once you start to feel better, contact a Paxil attorney. Williams Kherkher has Paxil attorneys that will sit with you for a free consultation. At this time they will be able to assess your situation and therefore determine what legal steps you should take. Do not wait too long to contact a Paxil attorney since it is a big step towards alleviating some of your stress. Call Williams Kherkher today.
